Positive Discipline

My program's goals are to promote independence, autonomy, self-esteem, and caring towards others and the physical environment.  The basis for these is a secure, orderly, developmentally appropriate caregiving environment; a positive, "yes" environment that allows children to experiment and test their behavior within clearly defined limits.  The enviroment is geared towards their competencies and interests.  This approach is based on respect for very young children and an appreciation of how hard it is for them to begin to learn to guide their own behavior.
